Records

What Documentation May Include

  • Provider and program name
  • Enrollment date
  • Attendance
  • Current status
  • Completion status
  • Provider verification

Requirements

The Court Order Controls

Class length, format and deadlines come from the order or supervising agency. Ask counsel before choosing a provider. See Proof of Enrollment and Court Progress Report.

Clinical distinction

Anger Management Is Not the Same As…

  • Psychotherapy (Court-Ordered Therapy)
  • A mental health diagnosis
  • A domestic violence batterer's program (one California example: probation in qualifying domestic violence cases under PC §1203.097; it does not govern anger management generally)
  • Substance-use treatment

Timing

Starting Classes Before Court

Voluntary early enrollment may not satisfy a later order. See Starting Classes Before Court.

Legal note

Whether a class satisfies an order is a legal question. Counsel handles it; the court or supervising agency decides.
