GPS Monitor Cost in California: What Can Change the Price
People often want one number for GPS monitoring. California does not have one statewide price. Cost can depend on the county, the program, the device, the type of supervision and whether fees apply to your case at all.
Quick answer
How Much Does a GPS Monitor Cost in California?
- There is no single statewide daily rate for court GPS monitoring.
- California law has limited certain county fees, including some electronic monitoring fees.
- Private or voluntary monitoring may have costs set by the provider.
- Ask the court, agency or provider for current costs and any fee waiver in writing.

California Has Limited Some Monitoring Fees
Assembly Bill 1869 (2020) ended many county administrative fees, including certain fees tied to electronic monitoring, for some programs. It did not set one price for every program. Ask your attorney whether any fee applies to your case.

Public Programs vs Private Providers
A county or court program may have different costs than a private provider. Some courts accept private monitoring. Some do not. See Pretrial Electronic Monitoring and Penal Code §1203.018.
